Film description

Diamantino neatly defies definitive description or classification – is it a fantasy, sci-fi, maybe sports or coming-of-age drama? The film follows child-like Diamantino, once a great soccer star who ends his career in disgrace and is struggling to find a new purpose. On his way to discovering it, he gets involved in an anti-EU campaign and faces all kinds of pressing modern-day issues – the cult of celebrity, neo-fascism, Brexit, the refugee crisis, genetic modification…

Evil twin sisters, mad scientists, giant adorable Pekinese puppies – surrealistic, creative in its employment of costume and design, Diamantino is made to astonish.
