Film description

Starring Dustin Hoffman and Valerie Perrine, black & white mockumentary Lenny follows the rise and fall of controversial cult comedian Lenny Bruce. Nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor & Best Actress – Bob Fosse’s first attempt at a non-musical film still amplifies Fosse’s flair for percussive editing and the unmasking of the dark underworld of backstage.

Showing as part of Scalarama Leeds, Fosse in Film: Mashiya Presents is a season of five Bob Fosse films (Sweet Charity, Lenny, Cabaret, Liza With a Z and All That Jazz) celebrating the breadth and skill of Fosse’s directing and choreography in film. Supported by Leeds Inspired.
