Early 18th century England is at war with the French. Nevertheless, duck racing and pineapple eating are thriving. A frail Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) occupies the throne and her close friend Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz) governs the country in her stead. When a new servant Abigail (Emma Stone) arrives, two women soon become rivals for the Queen’s affections in a wickedly funny game of one-up-womanship.
The latest from Greek auteur Yorgos Lanthimos (Dogtooth) is a delightfully witty, darkly comic romp, and winner of seven BAFTA awards including Best Actress (Coleman), Best Supporting Actress (Weisz) and Outstanding British Film.
