Albert lives in the British countryside with his family and his horse, Joey. At the outbreak of World War One, Albert’s father sells Joey to the British cavalry. Throughout the war, Joey encounters new owners, experiences the danger and sorrow of warfare, and impacts the life of every individual he meets. Meanwhile, Albert is heartbroken by the separation and embarks on his own journey, searching the battlefields of France to bring his beloved equine friend home.
