War of the Buttons
Set in Ireland in the 1960s, War of the Buttons tells the story of the conflict between two school-boy gangs. In the Ballys gang are children of working-class parents, whereas the boys in the Carricks gang are from middle-class families. The opposing gangs engage in battles, cutting the buttons off the clothes of their captured opponents and keeping them as trophies. Despite the hostility between the Ballys and the Carricks, this is a tale about how rivals can become friends just as easily as they can become enemies.
